Airports
For visitors from abroad there are three international airports to choose from. Frankfurt is barely 100 km from Heidelberg, the northernmost point of the Fantastic Road. But direct flights from the USA also land in Stuttgart, which is fairly centrally located on this holiday route. And Constance in the south is only 50 kilometres away from Zurich Airport, which also connects worldwide. As for inter-European flights, Baden-Baden Airport is a good tip.
Motor Car, ferry, bus and train
Almost all of the towns and cities on the Fantasy Trail can be easily reached via the Autobahn (the German equivalent of the
highway or motorway), though you should take your time when travelling from place to place. The routes through the northern Black Forest and the Schwäbische Alb [Swabian Jura] mountain range, as well as along the shores of Lake
Constance, offer views of wonderful landscape. The German railway network can also be used to travel throughout almost the entire region. Stuttgart and Heidelberg even have inter-city connections.
And all of the places located on Lake Constance that offer regular passenger-ship or car-ferry services across the lake are
also listed on the "Weiße Flotte" [White Fleet] timetable.
